Buckeye Unified School District Presents:
2017 Annual Heritage Festival
at Silva Valley Elementary
Friday, February 24th - 5:30-7:30pm
This is a multicultural event for our school district that shines the light on the variety of countries and cultures that are represented by students throughout our district. As part of this event, many local performers and cultural booths will be on display along with arts and craft activities and food items. This is a family-friendly, free community event for all ages!
We are currently in the planning stages for this event and have quite a few countries already planning to be represented including Japan, Mexico, Peru, Paraguay, Russia, Turkey, Korea and the Phillipines. But there are so many more cultures within our community that we would like to have represented! We welcome you to be a part of this fun event by hosting a cultural booth or sharing your talents in a cultural performance either by yourself or as a group. The more booths and performers we have represented, the better the event.
If you’re interested in volunteering for this event, please contact any of the members listed below.
We hope you will help us make this year's Heritage Festival our best yet!

Silva Valley PTA Needs You!
2017-18 School Year
The following positions are up for election for the 2017-18 School Year.
Serving as president of a PTA includes the responsibility to lead that PTA toward specific goals chosen by its members. The goals must be consistent with the purposes and basic policies of the PTA. The president is the presiding officer and the official representative of the association.
The recording secretary is elected and is one of the three officers required for a PTA/PTSA. The secretarial responsibilities may be assigned to one person or divided between a recording secretary and a corresponding secretary as specified in the bylaws. If there is no corresponding secretary, the duties of the corresponding secretary may be combined with the duties of the recording secretary, in accordance with the bylaws.
The parliamentarian is an officer usually appointed by the president, subject to ratification by the executive board. A parliamentarian “pro tem” should be appointed in the absence of the parliamentarian.
The historian assembles and preserves the record of activities and achievements of the PTA and assists the president in preparing the Annual Historian Report (Annual Unit Historian Report).
