A message from the Silva Valley Librarian:

Dear Parents and Families:

Reading for pleasure unlocks the power of information and imagination, and helps children discover who they are. Here’s what you can do to help your children develop stronger reading skills and a love for reading:

·   Set the example. Let your children see you read.

·   Have a collection of books in your home. Update this collection routinely to keep pace with changing tastes and reading skills.

·   Support our school’s Book Fair. Allow your children to choose their own books to read.

Our Scholastic Book Fair is a reading event that brings the books kids want to read right to our school. It’s a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level. Please make plans to visit our Book Fair and be involved in shaping your child’s reading habits.

Book Fair dates: May 15th through May 18th

If you are unable to attend the Fair in person, we invite you to visit our online Book Fair at scholastic.com/fair. Our online Fair is available from May 6th  to May 18th.  The online Book Fair features books from additional age ranges so you can find selections for older children in the family too.  All books purchased online will be delivered to your child’s teacher about a week after the fair closes. Don’t miss out on items that sell out. Shop the online fair, it’s easy and the shipping is free!

Please remember to add the appropriate 7.25% sales tax to your child’s order if they are bringing in funds to purchase books at the Book Fair that will be set up in the library.  Your child will have the opportunity to visit the Fair with their class.

We look forward to seeing you and your family at our Book Fair! Remember, all purchases benefit our school. We appreciate your support!

Sincerely,

Stacy Wright

Library Associate
